Community Impact

Habitat Work Week August 16-20, 2010

Our Habitat work week is set for August 16-20 in north Minneapolis. We will have the distinction of preparing a home for this fall's "27th Annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project." The Twin Cities will be one of just three stops this year for this annual event. While Jimmy, Rosalynn and company will not be with us in August, the work we will be doing will ensure that they will get their job done in October--they will have just one day...

Our job will be to prepare an existing home that has been in foreclosure and in need of a good re-hab. Having the Carter's focus on our own Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is a testament to the ongoing work the TCHFH group has done creating affordable housing opportunities in the Twin Cities, particularly their work in the areas of foreclosure remediation and neighborhood revitalization.

As always our Bethlehem Habitat work week takes place Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-4:00 pm. Note you do not have to work everyday nor do you have to have experience. There will be skilled people to assist and teach. What we can offer is a great way to spend a day or two with a nice cross section of your Bethlehem community, a great lunch and a perfect way to be part of a solution that has given over 770 families in the Twin Cities the opportunity for home ownership. Please contact Rick at jacksrc@dept56.com. Look for the Habitat table in the gallery on Sunday mornings.

Bethlehem at CES!

Bethlehem Volunteers

Around 50 volunteers came out and donated their time at Minneapolis's Community Emergency Services (CES). They worked hard at the CES food shelf to organize and put donated food away. Volunteers came in all ages with everyone giving their all to help with the tasks. For more information on the work being done by CES please visit their website.
