BeFrienders Lay Ministers

Befrienders are lay ministers trained to provide compassionate listening to those who are struggling with life transitions or struggles. They offer freindship as they bring the message of God's love and presence.

What distinguishes Befrienders from other congregational members are:

  • Willing to make a commitment to set aside regular times for a given period of time (usually a year or two) to befriend
  • Willing to attend 6 hour training
  • Willing to participate in a peer supervision and support group following training (every other month)
  • Intentionality about this ministry. It isn't left to chance encounter on Sunday morning or a friend calling to talk. They befriend strangers as well as those they know. They follow-up with a person after a chance encounter
If you would like to be a friend to your fellow people or have the name of someone you think could benefit from a Befriender please contact Julie McChesney through email or call at 612.312.3405.

Upcoming Befriender Training: Will be held Weds February 3 and 10 from 6:30-8:30pm. If you are interested in registering please call 612-312-3405 or email here.
