Recently my 3rd grader, Noah, said he wished he could go back to Castle Park. Confused by what he meant, I asked him where Castle Park is and when did he go there. He excitedly reminded me that it was part of our family camp experience last summer when families went by car on a scavenger hunt and ended at Castle Park, which is filled with water sprays and a large climbing area. My mind flooded with great memories of the 10 Bethlehem families that went to family camp. We laughed together, prayed together and enjoyed getting to know each other better.
As a child, I attended family camp with my parents and church family. I got to know other kids on a deeper level than just the one hour a week in Sunday School. After camp, we had become good friends.
Do you wish for your kids to make good church friends? Then consider family camp, July 9-11, 2010 at Shores of St. Andrew in New London, MN, as a way to grow together in community and faith. There is something for all: meals are included so no cooking, free time in the afternoon allows for parents to relax while kids play on the lake trampoline, Bible study for all ages to grow in faith, campfires and games, crafts and scavenger hunts, all make for a fun and exciting weekend.
Register at Green Lake Lutheran Ministries for July 9-11. Bethlehem's own Heather Roth Johnson, Joannie Schwalen, and Gena Koeberl are your camp deans.
