Argentina Teaching Trip 2010

Here are pictures from Pastor Chris and Pastor Beth's recent trip to Argentina. We were invited by the Lutheran Church in Argentina to come and teach about the Purpose Driven Church Model which we have adapted for Lutherans and has been so effective for us at Bethlehem. We worked with pastors on Tuesday and Wednesday and on Thursday lay leaders from different churches and we reviewed the material and shared how we had implemented it at Bethlehem. Following our presentation there was a conversation about the future both of IELU (United Lutheran Church of Argentina and Uruguay) and the individual congregations that were participating. On Friday, we were able to tour a school, a church and an Assisted Living home that are all ministries of the Lutheran Church in Argentina in Gran Bourg which is a Buenos Aires province north and west of the city. On Saturday, before the flight home, we did a walking tour of Buenoes Aires and saw the significance of "futbol" in Argentina (especially since we were there during the World Cup) and visited the Plaza de Mayo and the Pink House (the presidential palace). The balcony overlooking the square was where Evita Peron addressed the masses who adored her after her husband Juan was elected president in the late 40's and from where Madonna portrayed Evita in the musical of the same name.
